Healthcare
I have read and I am against the current Healthcare reform act and in Washington I will author and submit legislation to REPEAL every plank, every dollar and every dime of it.
What one sector of Healthcare continues to DECREASE in cost year after year? Answer: Elective Surgery. The price goes down every year because physicians have to compete and the insurance companies are kept at bay. Make insurers and physicians compete and we will dramatically lower the cost of health care making it more accessible for everyone.
Just 50 years ago low-cost health insurance was obtainable by almost every family. Doctors still made house calls, hospitals were dramatically less expensive and charity hospitals were available for those who could not afford to pay for care.
Today, health care is significantly more expensive largely due to government regulation and liability insurance required to be held by our physicians. The government healthcare programs we have today are heading for bankruptcy. The same methods and people who got us into this mess can not get us out.
To ease our current healthcare costs I would work toward the following:
Personal Medical Savings Accounts: Allowing tax-free deposits into a personal Medical Savings Account. For those people who fail to be able to save money into a MSA, health care expenses should be 100% tax-deductible.
Healthcare deregulation: Repeal Federal government policies that increase healthcare costs and decreases availability to services.
Removing barriers to safe and affordable medicine and treatments: Replace government agencies with free-market alternatives.
